Nixon outlines economic plan
In speeches made to the Missouri Municipal League and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jay Nixon outlined his economic plan, which, according to a release fom the Nixon campaign, would "attract jobs and investment."
The release states that Nixon would use tax credits and economic incentives to encourage Missouri companies to keep jobs in the state, and cited Nixon's Missouri Promise plan, which he proposed earlier this year, as a way to "prioritize education."
He said he would remove incentives for companies that outsource employment to foreign countries, and also called for a "comprehenisive approach to Missouri's energy problems",which includes expansion of alternatrive energy sources such as wind, solar nuclear power; and said he would support the expansion of oil exploration and drilling.
"When Missouri jobs get shipped overseas, it hurts Missouri families," Nixon said in the release. "It hurts Missouri's small businesses. It hurts Missouri's communities. Quite simply, it hurts everyone."
The Missouri Democratic Party also released a video today, which is labeled on the party's website as a "mini-documentary", attacking Republican gubernatorial candidate Kenny Hulshof's track record in the U.S. House with regards to economic votes.
