The campaign of Democratic 9th Congressional District candidate Judy Baker annouced Monday that Former U.S. Sen. Jean Carnahan will serve as chair to Women for Judy, an organization comprised of more than 200 women from every county in the 9th District.

Carnahan, a Democrat, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000 and served until 2002. She became senator when her husband, Gov. Mel Carnahan, died in a plane crash before the 2000 elections, but was still elected to the seat posthumously. Jean Carnahan filled the position in his stead; however, a successor was elected in 2002.
