Missouri minimum wage takes a bump

No tags for this entry.

As the result of a ballot initiative passed in 2006, minimum wage earners in Missouri have received a small raise.

The ballot measure requires that the state minimum wage increases along with inflation, and according to a report from the Columbia Daily Tribune, there was a 6 percent change in the Consumer Price Index from July 2007 and July 2009.

Thus, Missouri's minimum wage increases from $6.65 to $7.05. As we can glean from the Trib article, as well as other reports from the Southeast Missourian and the Joplin Globe, this wage increase is making some minimum wage earners happy, and it is leaving some restaurant owners a little chapped.

So, what do you think? Do you like seeing a little lift in the paycheck, or do you side with the business owners?
