Inaugurations coming soon

Gov.-elect Jay Nixon will officially be sworn in to office on Monday Jan. 12 in Jefferson City at 11 a.m. A schedule of events for the day has been released by the transition office, which includes an inauguaral parade at 10 a.m. All events are free and open to the public.

If you're unable to get down to the capitol, The Maneater will be covering the event, so be sure to check the Web site for the latest.

And, as I am sure most everyone already knows, Pres.-elect Barack Obama will be inaugurated on Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C. If you're like most everyone in the nation, you might not be able to make it into D.C. for the festivities.

However, if you're in Columbia, you can at least swing by The Blue Note at 17 N. 9th for an Inaugural Ball, which gets started at 6 p.m. and goes until 11. The event is free (but the booze isn't) and is sponsored by the Boone County Democrats and Democracy for Missouri.

Anybody going to the inauguration in D.C.?
