Missouri State Rep. compares abortion bill to Civil War

Missouri Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, caused a bit of a stir on the floor yesterday by comparing the Freedom of Choice Act to "the War of Northern Aggression." Jason Rosenbaum of the Capital Calling blog put the moment on YouTube.

His complaint was against a bill, the federal Freedom of Choice Act, which has not yet been filed.

And sure enough, later in the day, Stevenson apologized for the comments:

According to The Springfield News-Leader, State Rep. Don Calloway, D-St. Louis, asked Stevenson for an apology before lunch break.
