Funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 have been released today to fund health clinics across the country, and Missouri was able to snag $2.6 million to fund two clinics, one of them located in Columbia.

Family Health Center of Boone County, along with Richland Medical Center, Inc. in Richland, are going to receive the money as put of a $155 million disbursement to 126 medical centers across the country, which was announced today by President Barack Obama.

According to a White House news release, the clinics receiving the money assist an estimated 750,000 low income patients, and about 39 percent of health center patients in the U.S. do not have health insurance.
