The office of U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., announced today that Missouri will receive $85 million in federal stimulus dollars for transportation costs.

The funding is a part of the $8 billion, which will be released to fund infrastructure projects throughout the U.S.

“This money is going to impact Missouri communities, big and small,” McCaskill said in a news release. “It’s going to help create jobs and invest in the future of our public transit systems.”

Overall, the stimulus package, according to state by state White House estimates, is expected to create 69,000 jobs in Missouri. Missouri has already started on infrastructure projects, as there is a replacement bridge currently being constructed in Miller County.
