Kelly reintroduces bonding issue
Columbia Rep. Chris Kelly has introduced a bonding measure similar to one that was defeated last year. The measure, if passed, would put a constitutional amendment before Missourians for a vote. If this measure is passed by voters, the state could then sell $800 million worth of bonds to finance higher education improvements.
Kelly, a longtime proponent of bonds, has said in the past that this is one of the best ways to foster economic growth.
The bill, which has 52 co-sponsors, is expected to pass in the House, as did another bond measure Kelly supported last year. That bill died after the a filibuster was threatened in the Missouri Senate.
