MU Democrats to hold event marking 37th anniversary of Roe v. Wade decision
On Friday, the MU College Democrats will be participating in an event marking the 37th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.
This court decision, originally handed down in 1973, legalized abortion in the U.S. and is still seen as a controversial case.
To mark the anniversary, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., members of the MU College Democrats will have a table set up at Speakers Circle with materials related to reproductive health.
According to a news release from the organization, supporters of reproductive health services and sex education can sign a petition and have a photo taken of them to be sent to Missouri lawmakers.

As the MU College Democrats mark this anniversary, a bill is going through the Missouri House that would create the crime of coercing an abortion. This legislation would also allow the woman seeking an abortion the opportunity to view an ultrasound and hear the heartbeat of her unborn child.
