In his State of the State address finished just minutes ago, Gov. Jay Nixon has called for increasing state support for job training, creating jobs with high-tech companies and giving incentives to existing businesses to expand.

He also called for the passage of payday loan reform, which is the aim of legislation sponsored by Rep. Mary Still, D-Columbia. He said despite high interest rates on these loans, about 3 million were taken out last year.

Nixon also outlined proposed ethics reform, which comes as several Missouri lawmakers were charged with ethics violations in the last year. Finally, Nixon put his support behind proposed legislation that would provide increased coverage for people with autism.
