Kelly to pay canvassers
The MU College Democrats announced at their meeting on Thursday that Rep. Chris Kelly, D-Columbia will be paying people to knock or doors for his re-election campaign this fall.
Kelly currently represents the 24th district the state House of Representatives and is running for re-election against Republican Laura Nauser, who represents the Fifth Ward in the Columbia City Council and is also mayor pro-tem.
Knocking on doors of potential voters, also known as “canvassing,” is typically an unpaid position for volunteers helping out with campaigns.
