Nixon appoints new Boone County treasurer
Gov. Jay Nixon appointed a new Boone County treasurer Monday, according to a news release from the governor's office.
MU graduate Jan Fugit will replace retiring Treasurer Kay Murray, who has held the position since 1976. Fugit has worked in the Boone Hospital Center's financial section since 1997. She also worked as an accountant for the Missouri Department of Higher Education, along with other state agencies.
"Government at every level needs good financial leadership," Nixon said in the release. "With her strong background at Boone Hospital, I know Jan Fugit will continue the good work done for so many years by Kay Murray."
