Financial reform stalls
Financial reform efforts in the Senate were dealt a blow Monday night after the bill failed a procedural vote in the Senate by a count of 57-41.
Despite this, several rallies are planned across the nation tomorrow in support of the legislation. One rally is planned for Kansas City and a group from Columbia is going.
Dubbed the "Showdown in the Heartland," the rally and march will be held in downtown Kansas City at the Barney Allis Plaza at 1 p.m.
The event will culminate with a march on Bank of America's Kansas City headquarters, according to a release.
"This event is one of a series of major actions this spring to demand big banks start putting America's economic recovery ahead of their oversized profits and bonuses," a media advisory stated.
