Columbia Water and Light began Tuesday to install a 8-inch water line on the west side of Range Line Street, between Wilkes Boulevard and Rogers Street.

According a city news release, the water line is being installed to deliver more water for fire fighting purposes.

The work is expected to take three weeks. During that time, Range Line will remain open to traffic in both directions, but parking along the street will be prohibited. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, the news release stated.

Customers will be individually notified for any temporary disruption in their water services while the work is being completed.
