Bond awarded for lifetime achievement by biodiesel industry
Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., received the National Biodiesel Board's lifetime achievement award today, according to a news release put out by his office.
Bond, who is retiring this year, has made biodiesel and life sciences primary causes of his time in the Senate. Last month, as The Maneater reported, Bond hosted a biofuels summit on the MU campus to hear ideas from the industry about how Missouri could better use its biomass supply to create green energy.
“In 40 years of public service, I have seen many ideas come and go," Bond said in the statement. "Biofuels, or generating energy from crops we have in abundance is an idea that is here to stay. It makes sense environmentally, it makes sense from a business perspective, and it means we don’t have to import as much energy from foreign sources."
