Soccer splits weekend games

Missouri's soccer team split its first two conference games of the season this past weekend, beating Iowa State 3-0 on Friday and losing to Nebraska 3-2 in double overtime on Sunday.

The Tigers (6-3, 1-1 Big 12) went into Ames, Iowa and outshot the Cyclones 31-9, with a 15-4 edge in shots on goal. Missouri also had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Junior forward Kristin Andrighetto scored in the 10th and 55th minutes, assisted by junior forward Michelle Collins both times. Sophomore forward Alysha Bonnick tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 85th minute, while junior goalkeeper Tasha Dittamore recorded her fourth shutout of the year. Dittamore is one shutout away from tying MU's single-season record.

Missouri then headed to Lincoln, Neb., where the Cornhuskers beat No. 25 Kansas 2-1 in double overtime on Friday. The Tigers struck first in the 32nd minute on a goal from freshman defender Mallory Stipetich, but Nebraska tied the game less than six minutes later. Bonnick gave MU another lead in the 78th minute. But Missouri couldn't finish out the game, allowing the equalizer in the 89th minute.

After a scoreless first overtime, Nebraska's Sari Raber scored the game winner in the 107th minute.

Missouri had a 25-20 advantage in shots, while both teams managed eight shots on goal.

The Tigers committed 23 fouls, six more than their previous season high.

Last season, the Tigers started the Big 12 season 4-0. The only team that has the chance to do that this year is Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are the only unbeaten team in Big 12 play. Missouri will play its first home conference game Friday night against No. 17 Colorado.
