Offense explodes for 24 in the second quarter
Instead of conservatively taking some time off the clock, Missouri pressured the Illini defense and drove 87 yards on ten plays in just over two minutes for a score.
Daniel hooked up with senior tight end Chase Coffman for a 17 yard touchdown pass. Missouri now leads 31-13, but last year the Tigers had a 17 point advantage at half-time and only ended up winning by six.
The Missouri back field has been the story of the game so far. Washington, Jackson and Daniel are all averaging over 10 yards per carry and have ran for a total of 173 yards. This puts Illinois coach Ron Zook in a sticky situation as he needs more men in the box to stop the run game, but can't afford to leave MU's wide receivers in single coverage.
