Women's basketball looks to play spoiler
At 12-13 (3-9 Big 12), the Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team will fall short of the NCAA Tournament. But they can still play the role of spoiler for the other teams in the Big 12. The Tigers took down Kansas earlier this season, and just last week stunned No. 17 Kansas State. Tonight, Missouri will try and work some magic against the No. 13 Texas Longhorns.
Texas will bring the Big 12’s second highest scoring offense to the Mizzou Arena. The Longhorns are averaging 73.1 points a game. However, the stout Missouri defense has been tough on conference rivals, especially at home. But tonight, something has to give.
While they have been playing well, the Tigers cannot seem to string a winning streak together. After dominating Kansas, MU laid an egg a week later at Baylor. The team followed that up with one of its strongest wins of the season against KSU. And then it was right back to reality against Nebraska. It will be interesting to see which Tiger team shows up against the Longhorns.
Another storyline to watch will be the Longhorns’ freshman guard. Yvonne Anderson, daughter of Missouri Men’s basketball coach Mike Anderson, will take the court for Texas tonight. On the season, the Hickman High alumnus is averaging just over five points in 17 minutes.
