Women's basketball plays tonight

The Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team thumped the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday at Boulder, by a score of 66-55. Since losing at Kansas State on February 4, the Tigers have not won or lost more than one game in a row. The team is going to try and break its inconsistency spell tonight against the Iowa State Cyclones.

However, before the game gets underway, Missouri will honor its lone senior, guard Alyssa Hollins. Hollins is second on the team in points per game with 13, but also brings much more to the table. She is the only one averaging over 30 minutes a game, and provides valuable leadership to a young team that needs it.

We will see if MU can send Hollins off right in her last game at Mizzou Arena. It will not be an easy task. The (23) Cyclones are fourth in the Big 12 with an overall record of 21-7 (9-5 in the conference). In addition, ISU already handled Missouri earlier in the year by a score of 65-42.

But if there is one thing this roller coaster of a season has taught fans, it’s this: you can never completely count the Tigers out, especially at home. Just ask Kansas and K-State. Both were strong teams who looked lost at the Mizzou Arena. So while it seems unlikely, Missouri does have a chance to pull off the upset. They have knocked off two Top 25 opponents this year. But it is doubtful they nail a third tonight.
