Gymnastics grabs more victories

As the season winds down No. 13 Missouri continues to stockpile victories. The Tigers (15-2, 1-2 Big 12) took home three more wins this weekend after taking first at the Eagle Invitational in Eastern Michigan.

The Tiger’s score of 195.700 edged out Central Michigan’s 195.675 and also beat out Kent State (195.450) and Eastern Michigan (193.375).

Junior Sarah Shire won her eighth all-around title of the year with a score of 39.375 and was in a three-way tie for first in the balance beam with a 9.825.

Freshman Mary Burke also tied for first in the beam and ended up tied for third in the all-around with a 39.025.

On the floor exercise, sophomore Alex Gold posted a season-high score of 9.825 and senior Adrianne Perry tied her season best with a 9.900.

Junior Danielle Guider also set a season high, putting up a 9.750 on the vault.

Overall the Tigers placed one gymnast in the top three scorers in each event.

Missouri comes home Friday for their last regular season meet, a date with No. 9 Oregon State.

The Beavers will be one of the toughest tests yet for Missouri as they boast an average score of 196.070 and have hit as high as 197.500 this year.

In what will be the last call for seniors Alicia Hatcher and Adrianne Perry at the Hearnes Center, the meet will start at 6:30 pm.
