Despite building a 10-0 lead to start the game, Missouri could not hold off Oklahoma as the Sooners surged late for a 66-61 win in Norman, Okla.

The loss snaps Missouri’s nine-game win streak and drops them to 14-4 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12.

The Tigers’ point total was its lowest since scoring 59 in a loss at Oral Roberts on Dec. 9. What’s worse for Missouri, only seven points came off the 20 turnovers it forced.

Sooner sophomore guard Willie Warren led all scorers with 21 points and Oklahoma junior guard Cade Davis earned a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Overall, Oklahoma won the battle on the boards by out-rebounding Missouri 44-35.

Things looked good for the Tigers early on as the Sooners were held scoreless for nearly all of the first six minutes of the game. In that time, the Tigers built up a ten-point lead and forced seven turnovers.

After that, OU fought back to tie the game at 12 and Missouri ended the half up by five.

The Sooners took the lead for good with just less than seven minutes left in the game. Missouri fought back to win two points with as little as 15 seconds on the clock, but couldn’t get any closer.

Sophomore forward Laurence Bowers led Missouri in scoring and rebounding with 15 and 10, respectively. His double-double is Missouri’s second in a row, coming after sophomore guard Kim English put up 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds at Texas Tech on Wednesday.

Missouri has a week off before taking on Nebraska on Jan. 23 at Mizzou Arena. The game is sold out.
