Missouri volleyball holds off Texas A&M
The Missouri volleyball team snapped a two game losing streak Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M.
Senior outside hitter Paola Ampudia and junior middle blocker Brittney Brimmage tied for the most kills on the team with 16. Freshman setter Molly Kreklow anchored the offense with 55 assists and senior libero Caitlyn Vann led the back row with her season-high 26 digs. Both Ampudia and Kreklow recorded double-doubles on the night, with 15 and 16 digs respectively. Julianna Klein also tallied a double-double, with 10 digs to go alongside her 11 kills.
The Aggie offense relied heavily upon junior outside hitter Kelsey Black, who recorded a game-high 20 kills on .241 hitting. The other freshman setter on the court, Allie Sawatzky, led the Texas A&M offense with 50 assists and eight kills. The Tigers had a tough time finishing on their kills, with the Aggie back row totaling 91 digs on the night and limiting Missouri to just .150 hitting as a team.
The win moves Missouri to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play on the season. The Tigers will head back to Columbia on Saturday when they host the Baylor Bears, who currently hold a 3-5 conference record. The match starts at 6:30 at the Hearnes Center.
