The Missouri Tigers basketball team found themselves ranked no. 15 when the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll was released Thursday. The Tigers are ranked for the first time in a preseason poll since the 2003-2004 season when the team was ranked no. 5 heading into the season.
The team returns its top three scorers from last season in junior guards Kim English and Marcus Denmon and junior forward Laurence Bowers. The Tigers will also welcome back senior forward Justin Safford, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear last season. Safford is also the team’s only starting senior.
Fans can get an early look of the team at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mizzou Arena during the team’s practice. Fans can enter Mizzou Arena through the North doors, which is by the ticket office.
The Tigers start their season 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Mizzou arena for the annual Black & Gold Game. Tickets are $5, and proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club. Eight days later, the Tigers jump into non-conference play with an exhibition game against Harris-Stowe. The highlight of non-conference play, though, is a Nov. 30 showdown with Georgetown in Kansas City.
