Missouri wrestling loses to Illinois

The No. 11 Missouri Wrestling team lost its first dual of the season 18-13 to No. 10 Illinois on Friday night in Edwardsville, Ill. The Tigers beat the Fighting Ilini 18-16 in Columbia last season.

Freshmen Alan Waters and Zach Toal and juniors Dorian Henderson and Dom Bradley won matches for Missouri.

True freshman Alan Waters won the first match of the dual 8-3 at 125 pounds to give Missouri an early lead. Waters, who won the Lindenwood Open in October, is now 6-0 on the season.

The Tigers dropped their next four matches by decision before redshirt freshman Zach Toal won 10-4 at 165 pounds. For Toal and Waters, it was their first wins in dual play for Missouri.

Dorian Henderson, who qualified for the NCAA tournament last season at 174 pounds, won a 13-5 major decision at 184 pounds. Patrick Wright, who started at 157 pounds last season, replaced Henderson at 174 pounds and lost 3-2.

No. 3 Dom Bradley won 3-0 at heavyweight in the last match of the dual. Sophomore Jake Glore started at 197 pounds in place of ineligible No. 7 Brent Haynes, but lost 7-0.

Missouri continues dual play on November 21 with home matches against Lindenwood, Hofstra and Oregon State.
