Missouri successfully rebounded from its defeat at the hands of Nebraska by beating previously-undefeated New Hampshire 195.125-192.975 last Saturday at the Hearnes Center.

Senior Sarah Shire’s and sophomore Mary Burke’s performances led to the Tigers’ victory. The two dominated in the all-around as they alternated winning the event titles during the meet.

Shire won vault and floor exercise, Burke took uneven bars, and both tied for first on balance beam.

Shire, the reigning Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, is on pace for a record breaking year. The Big 12 voted Shire as the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, and the 10th time for her career.

Shire is currently on the cusp of matching Nebraska Emily Parsons’ all-time record of 11 Big 12 Gymnast of the Week titles.

Furthermore, Shire is ranked fourth nationally on beam, boasting a season average 9.865.

Next on the itinerary for No. 17 Missouri is a trip to Shreveport, La., to take on Centenary College (0-6) this coming Sunday. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams; the second will be at the Hearnes Center on March 21st.

Centenary’s team high score presently sits at 190.100 when it was posted in its losing effort against SEMO on Feb. 5.

Missouri has a stranglehold on the all-time series, winning all 13 matchups between the two.
