After the first round of action, there's a lot to rethink about the NCAA Tournament. Unexpected upsets and tight games across the board prove this will be an extremely competitive tournament. So here's my latest predictions for the second round and the Sweet 16 for the West Region:
Best team: No. 2 Kansas State looked good against North Texas, even better than No. 1 Syracuse did. Despite a blowout, they could be missing their star forward.
Contenders: Right now, Syracuse and Kansas State seem like the only teams that could win this region.
Best matchup: No. 3 Pittsburgh vs. No. 6 Xavier. This should be a great matchup between two tough teams that actually have a chance to challenge for a Final Four run.
Game we want to see: No. 1 Syracuse vs. No. 2 Kansas State. Hands-down, this would be the most fun game to watch in this region.
Cinderella: No. 13 Murray State got a win, but in terms of making a deeper run, look to No. 7 BYU.
Sweet 16 picks: No. 1 Syracuse, No. 13 Murray State, No. 6 Xavier, No. 2 Kansas State
So, who wins?: I have to stick with Kansas State.
