Tigers put up 28 runs in win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff
The Missouri baseball team scored in every inning of a seven-inning 28-2 blowout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. MU swept the two-game series.
Junior designated hitter Jonah Schmidt was the star of the game for Missouri with three hits, including a home run in the fourth inning, and six RBI.
Three other players had two hits, and 12 other hitters had at least one RBI in the game. Senior first baseman Aaron Senne had four RBI, and hit his seventh home run of the season in the Tigers 10-run fourth inning. Missouri was patient at the plate, working 14 walks off Golden Lion pitchers.
“Up and down the line-up we had great at-bats, and we’re really putting our right foot forward going into the conference season,” Schmidt said.
Junior Brad Buehler, who has struggled this season, allowed two runs on five hits in four innings and struck out three. Junior Aaron Blunt and freshmen Eric Anderson and Neil Hugenberg each pitched shutout innings in relief.
“He did a great job today,” Schmidt said of Buehler. “He’s been playing around with his arm angles and I think he’s finally back to where he was last season. He’s going to be a big asset for us down the stretch.”
Missouri outscored Arkansas-Pine Bluff 37-2 in the two games. The Tigers will try to continue their run when Big 12 conference play starts on Friday. The Tigers first conference series of the year is this weekend at Texas A&M. The first home conference series is against Baylor, April 2-4.
