The Big 12 selected six Tiger gymnasts to the conference’s all-academic teams. Seniors Brooke Boehmer and Becky Scholle, junior Alex Gold and sophomores Allie Heizelman and Mary Burke received first team honors, as senior Sarah Shire received a second team distinction.

Boehmer, Scholle and Gold all have already received this honor from the Big 12 with this year’s award being the third for Boehmer and Scholle and its the second for Gold. This is the first time the Big 12 named Burke, Heizelman, and Shire to the all-academic team.

The Big 12 picked both Shire and Burke to the all-conference team. The two, who are No. 1 and No. 2 in the all-around, are the only gymnasts to qualify for the all-conference team based on the all-around, giving Missouri a sweep in the category.

Last Sunday, No. 14 Missouri defeated Centenary College at home 196.300-183.075 in the seniors’ last regular season meet at the Hearnes Center.

On Saturday, the Tigers travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the Big 12 Conference Championship meet. Waiting for coach Rob Drass’ squad will be No. 16 Iowa State, No. 12 Nebraska and No. 2 Oklahoma.

Missouri had mixed results within conference, defeating Iowa State in a close contest 196.400-196.000 but suffered defeats to Nebraska 194.700-193.275 and to Oklahoma 197.050-195.500.
