After putting together a 4-2 record at the Collegiate Cactus Classic and Auburn Invitational, the Missouri baseball team will play in the Houston College Classic this weekend.
Missouri will face Houston on Friday, TCU on Saturday, and Big 12 rival Texas on Sunday. TCU and Texas, both currently ranked in the top ten, both made the NCAA Super Regionals last season. Texas made it all the way to the National Championship before losing to LSU.
The Tigers have yet to face a ranked opponent this season, so this weekend will say a lot about what kind of season they could have. Missouri won two out of three games in both tournaments that they have played in so far.
In order for Missouri to have success in Houston, they will need to continue to get good production from their seniors. Senior shortstop Michael Liberto has gotten off to a great start, batting .571 with 7 RBIs so far. Senior first baseman Aaron Senne has also started strong, already with four home runs and 10 RBI.
The Tigers will begin the regular season at home next Wednesday against Western Illinois, followed by a series against Xavier next weekend.
