Tigers assigned to Group B at nationals
Missouri seniors Brooke Boehmer, Danielle Guider, Becky Scholle and Sarah Shire get to be Tigers a little bit longer.
Last Saturday, Missouri hosted and won the NCAA South Central Regional, upsetting Oregon State and collegiate gymnastics powerhouse Georgia, who had captured 11 out of its last 12 regionals.
Missouri will head to Gainesville, Fla., for the NCAA National Championship on Tuesday, April 20. This is only the second time ever Missouri has qualified for nationals.
Out of the field of 12, the Tigers are rated 10th with their national qualifying score of 392.585. Also in the field of 12 is (12) Nebraska, (11) Michigan, (9) LSU, (8) Oregon State, (7) Arkansas, (6) Stanford, (5), Utah, (4) Oklahoma, (3) Alabama, (2) Florida and (1) UCLA.
The 12 teams will be divided into two groups with Missouri drawn into Group B. Competing against the Tigers will be Florida, Alabama, Stanford, Arkansas and Michigan.
The two favorites in this group are Florida and Alabama. Florida might be the most difficult to overcome because it is the host school and the effects of the home crowd could bestow a decisive advantage for the Gators.
