Tiger softball's Taylor earns All-American accolades
Junior outfielder Rhea Taylor has been selected as a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division 1 All-American.
Taylor, who enters the Women’s College World Series batting a Missouri record .442 with seven home runs and 47 stolen bases, was given third team honors after being selected to the second team in 2008. The Georgia native is the 19th player in Missouri history to receive All-America honors.
Taylor has racked up the accolades this season, as she was a first team All-Big 12 selection, as well as being selected to the Big 12 All-Tournament team. The junior also set Missouri school records for most stolen bases and runs scored in a career. Statistically, Taylor had her best year yet, setting career highs in eight different categories.
Taylor and the rest of the Tigers will try to continue their success as they square off against Hawaii in the WCWS opener tomorrow at noon.
