Pac-10 to change name to Pac-12

With the addition of Utah and Colorado to the Pac-10 in this summer’s realignment frenzy, the conference announced today that it would change its name to the Pac-12 once the movements are finalized.

The conference previously expanded in 1978 with the addition of Arizona and Arizona State to go from the Pac-8 to the Pac-10.

Both schools committed to the Pac-10 in mid-June. With the new additions, the Pac-10 is looking to revamp its brand and usher in a new era in the conference’s history.

The Pac-10 presented a new logo as well as digital initiatives today which will help fans get even closer to the teams through streaming video, blogs, twitter, and other cutting edge features.

Colorado officials have said they expect the school to be playing in the new conference by 2012-13.
