Senior tailback Washington suspended indefinitely
Missouri’s No. 1 tailback, senior Derrick Washington, was suspended until further notice before Thursday’s scrimmage at Faurot Field for disciplinary reasons.
Sophomore back-up Kendial Lawrence will take the top spot in the returning starter’s absence, though it is not yet known if Washington will be eligible for the season opener against Illinois next Sunday.
With the senior leader out and the No. 3 tailback redshirt freshman De’Vion Moore on the disabled list, the Tigers are looking thin at running back. Behind Moore are the undersized and untested true freshman Henry Josey and Marcus Murphy.
Washington was the go-to back in 2009, rushing for over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns after an even more impressive sophomore season.
