Tigers fall to Baylor
The recent in-conference struggles for the MU women’s soccer team continued Friday night, as the Tigers were defeated 3-1 by the Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas.
The Tigers dug themselves a deep hole early, surrendering a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of action.
Falling behind early has become a habit for MU, something coach Blitz had emphasized in practice recent weeks.
The Tigers put up a fight in the second half, but the early deficit would prove to be too much to overcome.
Sophomore Danielle Nottingham scored off of a corner kick early on in the second half, but Baylor would answer right back with a goal of their own to make it 3-1, which would prove to be the final.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 10-7 overall, and a meager 1-5 in Big 12 play. Baylor on the other hand is now 12-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.
A lack of offensive prowess complicated matters for the Tigers and their early 2-0 deficit. Baylor goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst was forced to make only two saves, as the Tigers failed to hit the target.
MU will look to right the ship and salvage what’s left of their season Sunday afternoon, when they travel to Norman to take on Oklahoma.
