Anderson leaving Missouri for Arkansas

After five seasons at Missouri, Mike Anderson is returning to the school where he spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach, Arkansas, the Razorbacks Athletics Department announced Wednesday night.

Arkansas named Anderson the program's head basketball coach, ending his three-year streak of bringing Missouri to the NCAA Tournament.

"We are extremely excited to welcome home Mike Anderson to the University of Arkansas as our new head men's basketball coach," Arkansas Athletics Director Jeff Long said. "Mike is one of the outstanding head coaches in college basketball. His teams play an exciting brand of basketball that has already proven successful at both UAB (University of Alabama — Birmingham) and Missouri.

Missouri Athletics Director Mike Alden will answer questions at a news conference at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mizzou Arena.

Frank Bier, O.D.: Get it done, Alden. Your best revenge on Mike Anderson? Find a coach to make Mizzou fans celebrate — and soon forget — Anderson's classless departure.
