Missouri guard Ricky Kreklow is set to transfer from the MU basketball program, head coach Frank Haith confirmed during the annual Big 12 basketball head coach summer teleconference Thursday. Kreklow informed Haith of his decision Wednesday, only a couple months removed from finishing his freshman season with the Tigers.
“I certainly hate to see Ricky leave our program, but we understand his decision,” Haith said. “Ricky is going to have a great college career, whether it was here at Mizzou or at his next school and he understands that. Columbia and Mizzou will always be home to him. He was a great player at Rock Bridge and his family has done a remarkable job with our volleyball program, but so much of college is about those new experiences. This needs to be an exciting time for Ricky and we are going to do whatever we can to help him continue his journey.”
Kreklow, the son of Missouri volleyball coach Wayne Kreklow, averaged 9.8 minutes and 2.1 points per game during his first season as a Tiger. He scored a season high 11 points in the win over Central Arkansas last season and recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 boards in the win against North Alabama.
