Multiple Tigers named to preseason award watch lists
Numerous college football awards released their preseason watch lists this week, and Missouri is well-represented.
Six Tigers find themselves listed among the early candidates for the honors. Senior tight end Michael Egnew is on the Mackey Award watch list for best tight end in the nation, an award he was a finalist for last season. Junior outside linebacker Zaviar Gooden is on the list for both the Bednarik Award (best linebacker) and the Nagurski Trophy (best defensive player). Joining Gooden on the Nagurski Trophy watch is junior defensive end Brad Madison, who enjoyed a strong spring season.
Others to earn a spot on the preseason watch lists are senior offensive lineman Dan Hoch (Outland Trophy), junior wide receiver T.J. Moe (Biletnikoff Award) and senior place kicker Grant Ressel (Lou Groza Award).
Egnew, Madison and Ressel are joined by senior offensive lineman Elvis Fisher on ESPN.com’s preseason All-Big 12 team, compiled by David Ubben.
