After earning MVP at the annual Tiger Invitational this past weekend and leading the Tigers to their fourth consecutive tournament title, sophomore setter Molly Kreklow was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on August 29.

Quarterbacking an average 12.42 assists per set average during the Tigers’ four sweeps at the tournament, Kreklow was the key to a .415 hitting average for the team on the weekend.

Adding to a season best 42 assists over a three-set match against Idaho State on Friday, she also racked up five blocks, 16 digs and 13 kills on .571 hitting. This was a first time honor for Kreklow.

Freshman outside hitter Emily Wilson was also awarded for an above average performance for her age, as she was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week.

Wilson heads to Middle Tennessee State for a five match road trip trailing only sophomore teammate outside hitter Lisa Henning for both a team and conference lead in kills after tallying 46 at the invitational on .488 hitting.

Blocking seven attacks at the net and digging two balls, Wilson not only had a high number of kills, but hit .500 or above in two of her four matches at the Hearnes Center.

As of now, she ranks second in hitting and eighth in blocks in the conference. She, like Kreklow, also shined in the Idaho State match, with a .542 hitting average and a 24 errorless swinging streak.

Kreklow and Wilson travel south for four days, where they will compete against Middle Tennessee state, Austin Peay, East Tennessee State, Auburn, and Florida International beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
