Missouri senior tight end Michael Egnew will represent the Tigers in the 2012 Senior Bowl. He is so far the only member of the MU team that has been invited to the 63rd Senior Bowl, which will take place Saturday, Jan. 28 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing what Michael can do here at the Senior Bowl,” Senior Bowl president and CEO Steve Hale said. “He has proven to be one of the premier tight ends in the nation the last couple of years and has earned this opportunity to showcase his talents and maximize his value to those making the ultimate decision on draft day.”

The Senior Bowl projects top NFL draft prospects by placing them on teams coached by NFL staffs. More than 800 general managers, coaches, scouts and front office personnel from all 32 NFL teams attend the showcase of the top senior talent in college football.

Egnew received and accepted the invitation Monday. The honor follows his second consecutive All-Big 12 Conference selection, a season in which he helped pace the nation’s 12th most productive offense with 50 receptions for 523 yards and three touchdowns. He was the team’s second leading receiver in catches and yards.

In his career, Egnew has hauled in 147 receptions for 1,332 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 career starts.

The Senior Bowl will air at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 on NFL Network.
