Pennix named Big 12 track male athlete of the week
Missouri track and field junior Malcolm Pennix was named Big 12 Conference track and field male athlete of the week Tuesday by the league office. He is the first Tiger to claim the award since former All-American Brian Hancock took home the honor Feb. 22, 2011.
Pennix debuted in black and gold last week at the Missouri-Kansas Border Dual. His event-winning long jump mark of 7.74 meters is a national best. The jump stands as the third-best indoor long jump in school history and is the longest mark for a Tiger since 1974.
The long jump was not Pennix's only event win at the meet. He took the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.78 seconds, also the third-best mark in school history.
