Junior defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson has been suspended for Missouri’s game against Syracuse this Saturday due to a violation of team rules, a source close to the team confirmed to The Maneater Thursday night.
According to the source, the suspension is related to academics and carries no legal or NCAA repercussions.
Richardson has been a centerpiece of the Tiger defense this season, earning the NFL Draft buzz that surrounds him. The 295-pounder is tied for the team lead in tackles and is second with four sacks.
Sophomore Lucas Vincent is listed as Richardson’s backup on the team’s depth chart and figures to replace the junior in the starting lineup.
