Swimming and diving teams add 20 to Academic All-Big 12
Twenty members of the Missouri swimming and diving teams earned Academic All-Big 12 Conference honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
On the men's side, seniors John Hunt, Max Kerwick, Michael Lopresti and Yaniv Shnaider and sophomore Mark Conroy all landed on the first team after maintaining a GPA of 3.20 or better while participating in 60 percent of the team’s competitive schedule.
In addition, senior Adam Abernathy and juniors Joe Hladik and John Krause were named to the second team. They maintained a GPA of 3.0 to 3.19 either cumulative or during the previous two semesters.
The women’s team added 12 Academic All-Big 12 members Tuesday.
Seniors Emy DiBenigno, Christina Gailey, Jordan Morcom, Lisa Nathanson and Stephanie Rovig, as well as juniors Dominique Bouchard, Cassie Cunningham, Sharon Finn, Rachel Ripley and Sydney Schaefer and sophomore Andrea Marko were all named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Named to the second team was senior Leah Cowperthwaite.
Athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA as well as participate in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled competitions to qualify. First-team members consist of athletes who maintained a GPA of 3.20 or better. Freshman and transfers were not eligible for the award.
The Academic All-Big 12 honors come mere days before the team hosts the Big 12 Championships, which begin Wednesday at the Missouri Aquatics Complex.
