Obama speaks in support of fee on financial institutions
In the early parts of his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama defended money spent to 'bailout' banks. He said most of these funds have been recovered, but he said he was supporting a fee to obtain the rest.
"Now I know Wall Street isn’t keen on this idea, but if these firms can afford to give big bonuses to their executives they can afford a modest fee to pay back the taxpayers who rescued them in their time of need," Obama said.
