Another day of record traffic...
...but not for the reason you'd think.
For the second time in the past month, we broke our all-time record for the most visits in a day to themaneater.com yesterday.
Of course, our elections coverage had something to do with it, but it turns out we had another article get picked up by a large Web site. Last time, features editor Kristin Torres' review of The Cure's latest album got picked up by a large fan blog; this time, columnist JJ Stankevitz's piece about Texas Tech got picked up by SI.com.
Check it out:

Some context:
- We usually get anywhere between 1,500 and 3,500 visits per day.
- As far as actual pageviews, let's first look at a typical day (Oct. 17). The site as a whole had about 6,600 pageviews. The front page got 919 of them. Now let's look at yesterday's 14,083 pageviews:
- 2,058 for the front
- 1,716 for our politics blog, which we updated throughout the day
- 1,318 for our election guide
- 2,338 for JJ's column.
That's pretty intense.
