Job description

Holding a seat in the Missouri House of Representatives entails typical legislative duties—serving on committees, proposing and authoring legislation, and voting on legislation that comes before the House. State Representatives serve two-year terms and can be elected no more than four times (this term limit was enacted in 1992).  The House is comprised of 163 voting members representing districts with an average of 31,000 residents.
