Suspicious vehicle results in ‘slow-speed’ police chase

After a “slow-speed” pursuit took place downtown Oct. 22, police arrested 32-year-old Donald Vonzelle Buckner of Columbia. Buckner was driving a suspicious vehicle close to the Boone County Courthouse at 705 E. Walnut, police reported. At 3:14 p.m. Columbia Police Department officers were notified and dispatched. Once on the scene, officers spotted the vehicle described to them with correct license plates. CPD has not released what type of vehicle it was. The chase ended when the officers believed it became unsafe. CPD has not stated at what speed they stopped the pursuit. On Oct. 23 police arrested Buckner in Atchison County for his warrant in Boone County, along with charges in Jackson County. The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office will receive a warrant request with further charges from the chase.
