Darwin Hindman Interview

On today's episode City, State and Nation editor Will Guldin speaks with Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman about his time leading the city. Hindman has been mayor for 15 years and announced two months ago he would not seek reelection in April 2010. Hindman spoke about his experiences during his time in office, his plans after retirement, and the upcoming mayoral election.

Paul, Noce discuss Reactor Field fallout

Missouri Students Association President Jordan Paul and Director of Student Communication Tim Noce discuss the closing of Reactor. Both served on the student advisory board to the administration and athletics department discussing the student perspective of sporting events as well as helped to organize the efforts on behalf of the student body to "Rally for Reactor." Paul explains the drawn out discussion process with the administration to find an alternative. Noce gives details on the Facebook group, student petition and "Rally for Reactor" T-shirt sales.

March 9, 2009:

Chris Kelly

Rep. Chris Kelly, D-Columbia, talks about his return to the Missouri House of Representatives and higher education funding. This is the first time Kelly has served in the House since 1994. During his 24th house district race last year, he emphasized the importance of providing for higher education. Since his term began, Kelly has supported higher education through his recently proposed $700 million bond fund, he said. The fund would provide money for building projects formerly funded by the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, such as the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and the renovation of Lafferre Hall. Kelly also co-sponsored House Bill 692, which allows for a voting student member of the UM system Board of Curators. The bill is awaiting referral to the House.

Outgoing Missouri Students Association Senate Speaker Jonathan Mays looks back on two years in the position. Mays has worked with three different MSA presidents during his tenure. He discusses changes in the organization, his proudest achievements, what he would like to see change and his regrets.

The Maneater spoke with Missouri Students Association President Jordan Paul on Thursday about his first few weeks in office, emergency telephones in Greektown, security cameras in parking garages and the potential appointment of former MSA presidential candidate Joe Fessehaye as the second chief of staff to communicate between Paul and MSA auxiliaries.
