Yard to Skillet

Published Sept. 13, 2010

The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture put on a Yard to Skillet workshop Saturday at its headquarters. The workshop was for people who have participated in, or are interested in, the urban hen program, which allows Columbia residents to raise up to six chickens per home within city limits.

The workshop, lead by CUA, showed how to kill and prepare a chicken. Free broiler chickens were provided to attendees who had prior registration, and those who completed the workshop could take the chicken home to eat. The chickens were grazing chickens raised at the CUA.
