Tony Luetkemeyer and Cheryl Tomes filed their paperwork Thursday to run for the Missouri Students Association's executive offices.

"I would like students to see our slate as something that realistically can happen," vice presidential candidate Tomes said. "In the past when people campaigned, promises couldn't happen. All our platform issues realistically can be done."

Luetkemeyer and Tomes outlined platform ideas including resolving issues with parking and transportation, increasing blue light emergency phones and ending MSA squabbles.

"We have a general promise to move away from internal problems," Luetkemeyer said. "We'll work closely with the judicial branch and Senate to identify issues before they become large problems."

Luetkemeyer said they also plan to promote responsibility and student safety by implementing a program that would require students to volunteer with STRIPES for violating the Student Code of Conduct.

"Currently, the Student Court usually assigns violators to write papers," Luetkemeyer said. "This would help STRIPES have a driver bank to draw from when low on volunteers."

Luetkemeyer is serving as the associate chief justice of the Student Court. He also oversees the Parking and Transportation Review Panel.

"I'm in a unique position as I meet regularly with Jim Joy from Parking and Transportation, and I've been working on a plan for a while," Luetkemeyer said. "While other slates may offer empty campaign promises, we've talked to people. All our ideas are practical and can be implemented."

Luetkemeyer is also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity. Tomes, who has not been involved in MSA, is a member of Chi Omega.
