Scandalous e-mails at Baylor U. cause campus uproar
Baylor University officials filed a lawsuit against someone who sent sexually explicit and fraudulent e-mails to members of the Baylor community while posing as administrators and others.
The individual's identity is unknown.
According to a Nov. 19 Houston Chronicle article, the e-mails began in August.
"The e-mails contain false reports on people's health" pornography, both images and in language" and target individuals in order to harass and hold them up to ridicule," said Noley Bice, Baylor University general counsel.
"Some have come from inside our system, but some have come from outside as well."
According to the lawsuit filed Nov. 17, the person has sent e-mails "purporting to contain depictions of Baylor employees and/or their family members engaging in sexual activities" and the content has become "increasing disturbing and lewd."
Bice said recipients of the fraudulent e-mails have been varied, but include President Robert B. Sloan Jr. and other high-level administrators. The e-mails have been sent in great volume.

U. Oklahoma president proposes dry campus
University of Oklahoma President David Boren announced Wednesday a series of initiatives to combat alcohol abuse, including making fraternities and residence halls dry, implementing a "three strikes and you're out" policy and increasing enforcement of alcohol violations.
Boren announced 15 major elements of the new alcohol policies Wednesday.
Boren formed an alcohol advisory committee shortly after the alcohol-related death of freshman Blake Adam Hammontree at the Sigma Chi fraternity house Sept. 30. After several meetings with the committee, in which it studied various alcohol policies of colleges and universities, Boren developed a series of policies to implement at OU.
"One of the most painful experiences of my life was to sit down with the parents and the sister of a very fine young man who tragically died on our campus, Blake Hammontree," Boren said. "I hope that I never again have that experience. These are tragedies we must find a way to prevent."

The events start Tuesday with a presentation by nationally recognized author Jennifer Worick. On Wednesday, the SEC will co-sponsor a Mardi Gras Bingo. On Thursday, students can hear some "downright dirty" comedy from "Full House" television star Bob Saget.
"It's really crazy time coming up with exams," Mohanty said. "Wintercourse offers students something really fun to do."
